The Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough is proud to announce $140,000 to support the vital work of eight local organizations at the heart of the women’s movement, whose core activities, leadership, mission, and vision are committed to advancing gender equality.
The $140,000 in grants was decided through a participatory granting process involving the recipient organizations. The grants signal the launch of a 15 month program to improve the economic, social and environmental experiences of women and girls in our community.

Women have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, and we believe that as we plan for recovery, it must be a feminist recovery. To create communities of true belonging, we need to advance gender equality across the country. Only 1% of global gender-focused granting goes to women-led organizations. We’re changing that.
By participating in the Fund for Gender Equality, we are joining other participating foundations who are committed to changing philanthropy from the inside out. We, along with our cohort of 21 community foundations working through the Fund, will be prioritizing feminist practices and policies in our organizations. Collectively, we are contributing an additional $3.4M of our capital funds to gender-lens investments.
