Community/neighbourly support

As of March 30, 2020, Community Care Peterborough is still offering a limited number of community support programs. For example, Meals on Wheels (hot and frozen meal delivery), grocery delivery, Friendly Visiting (by telephone), Home First (supporting individuals discharged from hospital), transportation services, etc. Click here for a complete list of available services. To arrange a service, call 705-742-7067.

The Federal Government has announced COVID-19-related funding for practical services for seniors (delivery of items and personal outreach) – to be coordinated in partnership with local United Ways.

Federal economic support for individuals

City residents can defer property tax payments without penalty


Food

Kawartha Food Share is coordinating food programs and food banks; food cupboards are maintaining services

City of Peterborough website has good information about emergency food services in the region


Health & Wellness

Telecare Peterborough is a free, anonymous and strictly confidential 24-hour call line for people in need of a friendly person who will listen. Phones are answered by volunteers who are good listeners, enjoy talking to people and are trained to handle crisis situations.

Kids Help Phone: Canada’s only 24/7, national support service – offering offer professional counselling, information and referrals and volunteer-led, text-based support to young people in both English and French.
