When youth are struggling to maintain their emotional and social health, Peterborough Youth Services (PYS) provides respectful, professional, and therapeutic services to get things back on track.

With the pandemic, PYS clients and staff moved to online and telephone-based service delivery. And when some in-person services resumed in June, many new protocols were implemented to keep everyone safe. It has been all hands on deck and every staff person, board member and volunteer have risen to the challenge.

With these service delivery changes, there has also been a rise in mental health needs as the pandemic lingers – with some youth seeking help for the first time. Last spring, a grant from the COVID-19 Community Response Fund strengthened the capacity of the Clinical Counselling team by contributing to Clinical Counsellor staff costs.

This is a good news story, but more needs to be done.

This fall, donations to the COVID-19 Community Response Fund will provide grants to eligible applicants through the Vital Community Grants program – supporting the efforts of local charities as they recover from the initial impacts of COVID-19.

Please give generously – we are stronger together.
