Food security means having reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. Lacking food security is more than a food problem; it is related to income and housing costs.

Rates of food insecurity in our community have increased during the pandemic, particularly for low-income individuals and families.

This spring, in partnership with an anonymous donor, the Community Foundation has a unique granting opportunity focusing on supporting food security in our community.

These grants will focus on the immediate needs of people served by charities operating in the City or County of Peterborough, or Hiawatha or Curve Lake First Nations.

Applicants are invited to think broadly about their efforts to help others with both their immediate and longer term food security needs.

The application deadline is April 1, 2021 at 5 pm.
