Hailey’s Comet Fund

Hailey’s Comet Fund

Hailey Holmes attended Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School and was in the Integrated Arts program. She always loved acting and making people laugh. Drama was her passion and she wanted to work in this field.

When Hailey was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at age eleven, she was full of hope and eager to help others. She wanted to help other children and their families who were battling cancer and going through similar circumstances. The Hailey’s Comet Foundation was set up shortly after her diagnosis. Hailey helped a local cancer patient and contributed to cancer research foundations. After Hailey’s passing, Hailey’s family decided to honour her by establishing the Hailey’s Comet Fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough. The Fund supports causes that mattered to Hailey. It also provides an award to a graduating student at Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School who has beaten various odds and persevered with their educational goals.
