Established by Joan Sangster, a former President of the Trent Child Care Centre, this Fund recognizes the important ideal of universal, non-profit child care for all children. This ideal has the rights of children at its core: the right to a life free of economic want, social exclusion and violence; the right to education and care; and the right to develop to their fullest potential. Respect and good compensation for the professionals providing child care is part of this vision. High quality child care is also part of a feminist vision for women’s equality.
Grants from this fund will help Trent Child Care Centre to:
-
- Advocate for high quality, universal, non-profit care for all children;
- Aid staff in professional development related to the improvement of care and the attainment of universal child care, and;
- Sponsor events, workshops and speakers related to advocacy and child care at the Centre, in its Peterborough locale, or in Canada.
