Mary Steele Thomas (1939-2022) was a long-time resident of Peterborough and an extraordinary woman whose grace, generosity and wisdom deeply enriched the lives of all who knew her.  
 

She had a strong affinity with children and animals, savoured natural environments and delighted in travel and outdoor adventures – interests cultivated since childhood.  

She was by nature a “helper” and whenever she recognized a need she was ready and willing to offer her assistance and support. She believed in action, not just words, and often encouraged her friends and others in her community to join her in solving problems. She was outspoken, strident, curious, kind and compassionate. She had a wide circle of friends and affiliates locally and around the world, and in all regards she was a teacher, a role model and a mentor of many. 

Mary’s indomitable spirit endures as a guiding light to her friends and family; her kindness lives on in our hearts.  

The MST Fund continues her legacy and honours her kindness, generosity and enduring zest for life.
