Titus Ngouepo spent nearly seven years in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, where access to education felt like a distant hope. When he came to Canada in 2018 at the age of 11, support from others changed his life — it opened doors, gave him purpose, and helped him believe in a future beyond survival. Titus established the Pathfinder Student Award Fund because he knows what it means to grow up with dreams but no clear path.
Establishing and promoting the Pathfinder Student Award Fund allows Titus to continue giving back to the community that has given him so much. The Award itself is for students moving on to post-secondary education who, like Titus, have faced hardship but still lead with courage, hope, and determination. Through a small financial award and with mentorship from the New Canadians Centre, the Pathfinder Student Award will serve to remind young newcomers that their journey matters — and that they are not walking it alone. The Fund exists to ensure that potential, not circumstances, determines their path.
Help us support the next Pathfinders so they can know: they belong, they are seen, and their future is worth investing in.
“I know what it feels like to arrive in a new country with hope, uncertainty, and dreams. I created this scholarship to honour the journeys of students like me, who carry untapped potential, and to remind them that someone believes in their future and will help them find a pen to write their untold story”
